Perintis

We help communities build change that actually holds up.

Perintis started from a plain idea: give people real tools and a real say, and they can shape their own future instead of waiting for someone to hand it to them.

We work at the community level. We listen first, then build programs around what people are already trying to do. Some of that work stays small and local. Some of it grows into something bigger. Either way, we don't disappear after launch. We stick around to see if the work holds up, and change course when it doesn't.

We're starting close to home, but the goal has never been to stay small. The same approach that works in one neighborhood should hold up in the next country over, and that's the community we're building toward.

What we actually do

  • Community involvement. We show up and stay involved, building relationships that last past a single event or campaign.
  • Empowerment strategy. We hand over tools and decision making, not just funding, so people can keep going without us in the room.
  • Program development. When something people need doesn't exist yet, we build it, usually starting small and adjusting as we learn.
  • Impact assessment. We check what's working with real data and drop or change the parts that aren't landing.

We're a non-profit, so all of this runs on donors and partners who believe in what everyday people, wherever they happen to live, are trying to build.
